Job description
We have an amazing opportunity for a talented individual to join us as a Communications Strategy Lead. This is a hybrid working role where you will be required to attend our Kennington office at least once a week.
Purpose and main duties
As a Communications Strategy Lead you will lead and manage the coordination of the Department’s workplan and related specific communication plans, ensuring activities align to organisational priorities and deliver against measurable objectives. You will also build and manage a core part of the communications function, providing support and development to direct reports, as well as helping to build a positive and supportive culture as part of the communication’s senior leadership team.
In addition, the role will require you to build strong relationships across the organisation to help lead the development, implementation and maintenance of department and organisation wide communications commissioning and planning processes. Working closely with colleagues across the organisation and your direct reports, you will help create powerful internal communications that enhance staff engagement, support organisations values and culture, and encourages employee advocacy.
Some primary duties and responsibilities include:
Leading and managing the coordination of the Department’s workplan and related specific communication plans, ensuring activities align to the priorities in the Communications Strategy and Corporate Strategy, and delivering against objectives.
Tracking key metrics and performance indicators and supporting department and organisation wider reporting.
Developing and maintaining department and organisational processes relating to communication planning and commissioning.
Providing leadership and line management to members of the Communications team including supporting employee performance and development.
Working in partnership with internal stakeholders, leading the development of multi-channel campaign and project communication plans, including key messaging and activity across corporate communication channels.
Working in partnership with the wider Communications Department and internal stakeholders to ensure the delivery of integrated, audience specific, multi-channel communications & engagement plans and strategies. Regularly evaluating, reviewing and improving plans and activity to increase effectiveness.
Candidate Requirements
Experience of leading the development and delivery of organisation wide communications strategies and plans, as well as experience of leading internal communications and organisational development activity will be essential. The ideal candidate will be highly efficient and an organised team player, with a commitment to collaboration both with colleagues and external stakeholders and customers. They will also be capable of motivating and influencing senior stakeholders, and have highly developed verbal, written and presentation skills with the ability to communicate in a clear and concise manner with a range of internal and external audiences.
