Job description

This is an exciting opportunity to join an organisation passionate about protecting the public and upholding regulatory standards across healthcare.

Fitness to Practise is one of HCPC’s core regulatory functions. We are dedicated individuals who genuinely care about delivering an exceptional service, investigating concerns quickly and fairly and producing high quality case outcomes. Providing agile, responsive and excellent customer service for internal and external stakeholders is central to what we do.

You will join us at an exciting time as we deliver a programme to embed sustainable improvements to the way we work, establish a learning and development culture, and cultivate a human centred approach to regulation. Over the past year we have been successful in meeting more of the Professional Standards Authority’s Standards of Good Regulation – we now meet three of the five Standards relating to Fitness to Practice - and we have clear plans to continue to improve. Delivering more timely, high quality investigations, where participants feel supported through the process, is our priority.

In your role as Head of Case Progression & Quality, you will be responsible for:

  • Leading, motivating and providing strategic and operational direction to the case management functions within the Fitness to Practise directorate.

  • Developing and sustaining a high-performing team that consistently delivers its work in line with quality and timeliness objectives, and fulfils our ambition to provide excellent customer service.

  • Implementing  the organisation’s fitness to practise strategy, working closely with the Executive Director of Fitness to Practise and Tribunal Services to develop and deliver the department’s workplan in the service of that strategy.

  • Work collaboratively and proactively with other members of the directorate's senior management team, taking shared accountability for directorate performance

  • Leading the delivery of key change management projects relating to fitness to practise processes and procedures.

  • Being a role model for the department’s commitment to embrace change and different ways of working.

You will be a visionary leader, have excellent communication skills and work strategically and collaboratively to deliver shared objectives. You will have proven experience of successfully leading large multi-disciplinary teams, operational processes and systems to challenging time and quality performance indicators at senior level.

The work of the Fitness to Practise & Tribunal Services directorate as public protection at its core and the work we do has a significant impact on people’s lives. You will have the resilience, integrity and professionalism to lead a team in this challenging and rewarding environment.
